HA NOI — A US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) delegation visited Viet Nam from May 11-22 to study the religious situation and related policies in Viet Nam.

At a meeting with the delegation, led by USCIRF vice president Michael Lewis Cromartie, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Gia Khiem said the Vietnamese Government had a consistent policy and always strived to assure religious life for the people, considering this an important target consistent with the progress of renewal and socio-economic development in Viet Nam.

The delegation held working sessions with the Government’s Committee for Religious Affairs, the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation, the Ministry of Justice, the National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations and the Committee for Social Affairs.
