USCIRF Vice Chair Elizabeth Prodromou on U.S. Perspectives on Freedom of Religion or Belief in Turkey

Dr. Elizabeth Prodromou, vice chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), on November 16 delivered a speech in Brussels on religious freedom in Turkey, sponsored by the Order of St. Andrew and the Pammakaristos Brotherhood Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, at the International Archon Religious Freedom Conference.

The following is an excerpt from Commissioner Prodromou's speech:

I want to reiterate a key concern for USCIRF regarding Turkey's current policies ... relating to freedom of religion or belief, namely, the failure to implement permanent legal reforms despite an expressed willingness to consider real change.
