The seven Baha’is – five men and two women – were scheduled to face trial on Saturday, on charges of spying for Israel and other religious offenses, including “being corrupt on earth”, which is punishable by death.

They have been held in Tehran’s Evin Prison for over a year without access to legal counsel.

Last week, Amnesty International and the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom urged Iran to release the seven individuals.
