Lobsang Gedun was imprisoned for protesting religious freedom conditions.
On July 1, 2013, public security officials detained Gedun, a monk at Drongsar Monastery, as he staged a solo protest in Basu (Pashoe), Changdu (Chamdo) prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, calling for Tibetan independence and the Dalai Lama's return. Gedun was reportedly tortured while detained.
On an unspecified date, a court in Chamdo reportedly sentenced Gedun to 10 years in prison on unspecified charges.
