On June 2, 2020, President Trump signed an executive order reiterating the importance of of targeted sanctions under legal authorities, such as the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act, as a response to egregious religious freedom violations in Iran and elsewhere. This makes the second consecutive US administration to utilize newly passed legislation and executive orders to impose targeted sanctions on dozens of Iranian officials and entities responsible for egregious religious freedom violations in Iran.
