Chen Ju is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On September 29, 2017, authorities detained Chen reportedly in relation to her religious beliefs and church work. Police reportedly seized electronics and cash. The next day, Chen was placed under residential surveillance.
On October 30, 2017, Chen was criminally detained and sent to Suining Detention Center.
On September 11, 2019, the Daying County People’s Court sentenced Chen to 11 years in prison and fined her 100,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
