In October 2018, police officers from the Kuitun City Public Security Bureau in Xinjiang detained He reportedly in relation to her religious beliefs and her former religious leadership role in charge of the work of local churches in Kuitun.
On September 10, 2019, the Kuitun People’s Court in Xinjiang sentenced He to 11 years in prison and fined her 50,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
