Liu Taoying was imprisoned for her religious activity.
In July 2018, authorities arrested Liu from her home reportedly in relation to her practice of Falun Gong. Police reportedly searched her home and seized Falun Gong-related materials, electronics, and other personal belongings.
In August 2018, Liu was released on bail for five days but was taken back into custody.
On an unspecified date in 2019, Liu was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and sent to Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison.
Liu's sentence should have ended in or around January 2021.
Liu has reportedly been arrested and imprisoned previously for her Falun Gong activities.
