Sadriddin Mulloyev is imprisoned for his alleged religious affiliation and religious activity.
On September 21, 2019, authorities arrested Mulloyev after summoning him to the General Prosecutor's Office. Prosecutors reportedly accused him of being a member of Tabligh Jamaat. He was charged with "participating in a criminal association" (Art. 187-2 TCC), "participating in the creation of extremist association and in the activities of it" (Art. 307-2-3 TCC), "participating in the activity of political parties, social or religious organizations, or other organizations, liquidated or banned by a court for extremist activity" (Art. 307-3-2 TCC), and "recruiting, training, financing or other material support to mercenaries as well as their usage in armed conflicts or military actions" (Art. 401-1 TCC).
Mulloyev's trial was reportedly conducted in secret, and he was denied proper legal representation during the judicial proceedings.
On January 2, 2020, Mulloyev was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Prior to his most recent arrest, Mulloyev spent five years in prison for allegedly being a member of Tabligh Jamaat.
Mulloyev is married with four children.
