Wu Jikun was imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
On December 21, 2012, authorities in Anhui province detained Wu reportedly in relation to his preaching activities and possession of religious materials.
On January 29, 2015, the Datong District People’s Court of Huainan City sentenced Wu to nine years in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On April 7, 2015, the Intermediate People’s Court of Huainan city, Anhui, rejected Wu's appeal.
Wu was taken to Chaohu Prison to serve his sentence.
Wu's sentence should have ended in December 2021.
