Asif Mahmood is a practicing pulmonologist, human rights advocate, and dedicated community leader. He brings a profound clinical perspective to his humanitarian work, drawing from a distinguished medical career that includes a pulmonary fellowship at Columbia University’s Harlem Hospital.

A respected thought leader, Dr. Mahmood utilizes his platform to champion global accountability, protect marginalized communities, and author commentaries in national outlets like The Hill and Newsweek to expose civil liberties violations worldwide. Driven by a deep commitment to human rights, his global advocacy work and humanitarian interventions have helped save lives in crisis-stricken regions around the world, including Kashmir, Tigray, and other conflict zones.

As a two-term member of the Medical Board of California, Dr. Mahmood fiercely advocates for patients' rights and works to secure greater access to medical coverage for all communities. Locally, he anchors his dedication to public service through his leadership on several non-profit boards. He serves as a Board Member for Hope the Mission—the largest provider of homeless services in the Greater Los Angeles Area, delivering a comprehensive continuum of care that includes transitional housing, mental health treatment, and job training. Additionally, he serves as a Board Member for the Organization for Social Media Safety, where he works to combat online hate speech.
