Anvar Aliyev is under house arrest for his religious expression. 

On July 14, 2025, Uzbek officers arrested Anvar Aliyev for discussing his Shi'a faith in a Telegram group chat. 

On October 6, 2025, Judge Zhamshid Ibragimov of Samarkand City Criminal Court sentenced him to four years' imprisonment for "Production, storage, distribution or display of materials containing a threat to public security and public order" when carried out by a group (Art. 244-1, Part 3, Point 4). 

Aliyev's sentence was suspended, and he was placed under house arrest.
