Deng Chuangjiu was imprisoned for his religious activity.
In October 2017, authorities arrested Deng from his workplace after accusing him of using WeChat to disseminate information about Falun Gong.
In July 2019, the Pengzhou City Court sentenced Deng to four years in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On October 15, 2021, Deng was reportedly released from prison.
Deng was reportedly tortured by police after leaving prison in an effort to stop him from practicing Falun Gong.
