Tsultrim Gonpo is imprisoned for activities in support of religious sites.
On April 2, 2018, public security officials in Biru (Driru) county, Naqu (Nagchu) prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) detained 30 Tibetans from the Markor, Wathang, and Gochu villages in Xiaqu (Shagchu) township, Biru, including Gonpo, a monk, reportedly for opposing a mining project on Sebtra Zagyen, a religiously significant mountain.
In July 2023, a UN Special Rapporteur Communication sent to Chinese authorities indicated that Gonpo had reportedly been found guilty of "engaging in separatist activity." The letter said the length of the sentence and the exact charges were not known.
