Tenzin Lhundrub is imprisoned in relation to protesting religious freedom conditions.
In May 2014, authorities detained Lhundrub, a scholar and monk from Gom Gonsar Monastery in Liangqu (Lenchu) township, Biru (Driru) county, Naqu (Nagchu), Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR), while he was giving a talk on “the status of Tibetan language and nationality” in Xiaqu (Shagchu) township, Biru county. Lhundrub reportedly disappeared while in detention. Security officials allegedly told locals that Lhundrub had been "involved in many disturbances," including protests against mining at Naglha Dzamba, a religiously significant mountain.
In May 2015, a court reportedly sentenced Lhundrub to 12 years in prison on unspecified charges.
