Palga is detained for resisting government interference in religious affairs. 

In October 2021, authorities in Draggo (Luhuo) county, Kardze (Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province, detained Palga, abbot of Draggo Monastery, reportedly after he refused local authority demands to ensure monks and other residents comply with orders to demolish a monastic school affiliated with the monastery. Palga was reportedly tortured while detained.
