Cheng Jinfeng was imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
On July 18, 2014, authorities from Shizuishan municipality, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, detained Cheng, a member of the "Society of Disciples" (Mentu Hui) along with several other colleagues.
On July 13, 2015, the Dawukou People's Court in Shizuishan sentenced Cheng to eight years and six months in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On September 2, 2015, the Shizuishan Municipal Intermediate People's Court upheld Cheng's sentence.
Cheng's sentence should have ended in January 2023.

On or around June 21, 2007, authorities in the Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, Yongzhou municipality, Hunan province, detained Mo, a reported leader of the Lord God Religion, and several of his colleagues.
In 2008, the Jianghua Yao Autonomous County People’s Court sentenced Mo to 20 years in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL) and "fraud."
