Abdughappar Abdurusul

Abdughappar Abdurusul is detained for his religious activity and ethnoreligious identity. 

In July 2018, authorities in Ghulja (Yining) city, Ili (Yili) Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), detained Abdurusul, a businessman and philanthropist, reportedly in relation to his going on Hajj pilgrimage without state approval. it is also reported that his detainment was in relation to his travel to Turkey. Abdurusul's detention came amid mass detentions of largely Muslim ethnic minorities in XUAR.

On an unspecified date. It was reported that Abdurusul was sentenced to death; however, following the reporting of that news, Abdurusul was said to have been released from detention.

In March 2020, a state-run media outlet published a video interview on Twitter purporting to show Abdurusul living at home with his family.

In May 2021, Abdurusul was reportedly arrested again under unclear circumstances.

Adil Mijit

Adil Mijit was detained for his ethnoreligious identity.

In November 2018, authorities in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) detained Mijit, a comedian, and sent him to a reeducation camp. Mijit's detention came amid mass detentions of largely Muslim ethnic minorities in XUAR.

Mijit was reportedly released from detention prior to August 2020. The exact date was unspecified.
