Gong Xiyue is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On November 28, 2018, officers from the National Security Division of the Public Security Bureau in Changsha city detained Gong reportedly in relation to her religious beliefs and work for the church. The next day, police placed her under residential surveillance.
On December 30, 2018, Gong was officially arrested and sent to Changsha No. 4 Detention Center.
On December 19, 2019, the Wangcheng District People’s Court of Changsha City sentenced Gong to eight years and two months in prison and fined her 30,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
