Yevgeny Zhuravsky is detained for his religious belief and activity. 

In June 2026, authorties detained Zhuravsky and 4 other members of the banned True and Free Reform Seventh-day Adventist Church and charged them with "production and distribution of extremist materials" for possessing digital religious content. Earlier that month, police authorities raided the homes of several church members during house church worship services, confiscated their personal property, and temporarily detained several members for interrogation. Authorities confined Zhuravsky to Bishkek Prison No. 21.
