Abolfazl Pour-Hosseini is imprisoned for his religious activity.
In June 2023, authorities in Karaj detained Pour-Hosseini reportedly while he was passing out a leaflet about Erfan-e-Halgheh. Officers reportedly inflicted "severe physical violence" upon him during his arrest.
In December 2023, it was reported that a revolutionary court had sentenced Pour-Hosseini to three years in prison and two years of suspended imprisonment on unspecified charges. It was also reported that the Karaj Revolutionary Court was considering charges of “propaganda against the regime and inciting people to act against national security” against Pour-Hosseini in a separate case.
In March 2024, it was reported that Iranian judicial authorities sentenced Pour-Hosseini in a new case on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “inciting people to act against national security.” He previously went on a hunger strike to protest the new charges and prison conditions. After ending the hunger strike, prison authorities reportedly put him in solitary confinement and denied his family prison visits for approximately two months.
