Akramjon Abdullayev is imprisoned for his religious activity.
On August 25, 2016, federal security service agents in Russian-occupied Crimea, Ukraine, detained Abdullayev after accusing him of being a member of the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir organization, holding meetings, discussing religious topics, and possessing religious materials.
On October 26, 2018, the North Caucasian District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Abdullayev to 15 years in prison for “participating in the activities of an organization…recognized as terrorist” (Art. 205.5-2 RCC) and "inciting others to commit crimes envisioned under Article 278 of the Russian Criminal Code" (Art. 205.1-1 RCC).
