Benedetta Nya Moe is imprisoned for her religious activity. 

In June 2026, junta authorities arrested Nya Moe, a nun, for her religiously based humanitarian work as she transported a sick or wounded displaced person to a hospital. Nya Moe works with other Catholic nuns at the Sisters of Charity of Saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa, a religious order that provides healthcare and humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons in Loikaw Township, Kayah State. Authorities seized her mobile phone and accused her of receiving donations and information pertaining to the war. 

In June 2026, two weeks later, a military tribunal sentenced her to 8 months' imprisonment for circulating information that could cause military personnel to fail in their duties (Sec. 505(a) BPC). Authorities confined her at Loikaw Prison.
