Bian Changxue is imprisoned for his religious activity.
On January 5, 2016, authorities in Yutian county, Tangshan municipality, Hebei province, detained Bian at his home and seized his computer, printer, and Falun Gong-related materials. Bian was reportedly targeted for practicing Falun Gong as well as for submitting a complaint against former President Jiang Zemin.
On December 30, 2017, the Yutian People’s Court sentenced Bian to eight years in prison and fined him 20,000 yuan.
Bian has reportedly been previously imprisoned for his religious activity.
