Eduard Nizamov is imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.

On October 10, 2018, authorities arrested Nizamov after accusing him of being the leader of a network of cells for the banned Hizb ut-Tahrir organization. Prosecutors allege that Nizamov led the cells, studied the organization's literature, supervised other lower level leaders, held meetings, and facilitated outreach activities to mosques and social media.

On February 10, 2020, the Central District Military Court sentenced Nizamov to 23 years in prison for "financing terrorist activities" (Art. 205.1-1 RCC), "organizing the activities of an organization…recognized as terrorist" (Art. 205.5-1 RCC), and "preparing for actions aimed at the forcible seizure of power or the forcible retention of power” (Art. 30-1/Art. 278 RCC).

Nizamov is married with six children.
