Guo Yanda was imprisoned for his religious activity. 

On April 18, 2012, authorities in Zhanqian District, Yingkou Municipality, Liaoning Province, arrested Guo alongside eight other Falun Gong practitioners.

On December 27, 2013, the Zhanqian District People’s Court sentenced Guo to ten years in prison.

On an unspecified date, the Yingkou Intermediate People’s Court rejected Guo's appeal.
