Ibrokhimjon Isaboev is imprisoned in relation to his religious belief and activity. 

In late 2000, the Margilon City Court sentenced Isaboev to 11 years in prison for “attempts to overthrow the constitutional order” (Art. 159 UCC) and an unspecified subsection of Article 244 UCC. Relatives told human rights defenders that Isaboev was not involved in any criminal activity.

In 2011, authorities added three years to his sentence in 2011 for violating prison rules (Art. 221 UCC) at CEP 64.

In 2014, authorities added another three years and six months to Isaboev's sentence for violating prison rules (Art. 221 UCC).

In 2017, Isaboev was sentenced for an additional three years at CEP 64/33 in Qarshi.

In 2019, Isaboev was sentenced again for an additional 11 years for "organizing a criminal group" (Art. 242 UCC), “attempts to overthrow the constitutional order” (Art. 159 UCC), and an unspecified subsection of Article 244 UCC.
