In or around May 2020, authorities in Xiaoyi city, Shanxi province, arrested Jang for being in possession of Falun Gong materials.

On January 11, 2021, the Wenshui County People’s Court sentenced Jang to five years in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).

On May 27, 2021, the Intermediate People’s Court of Lüliang city, Shanxi, upheld Jang's sentence.
