Li Cui was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On May 9, 2018, police arrested Li after raiding a house in Jiujiang city, Jiangxi province, where Li and others were gathered. Police also reportedly confiscated several laptops, religious books, and cash.
On March 21, 2019, Li was sentenced to five years in prison and fined 40,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On July 11, 2019, the Jiujiang City Intermediate People’s Court rejected Li's appeal.
Li's sentence should have ended in May 2023.
