Li Xiaorong was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
In February 2015, officers from the Zhong County Public Security Bureau detained Li reportedly in relation to her religious beliefs, attending of worship gatherings, preaching, and assisting church members facing persecution.
On December 18, 2015, the Zhong County People’s Court sentenced Li to eight years in prison and fined her 5,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
Li's sentence should have ended in February 2023.
