Lin Yanmei was imprisoned for her religious activity.
In August 2018, authorities from of Dianbai district, Maoming municipality, Guangdong province, detained Lin, her sister, Lin Lizhen, and her nephew, Wu Chaoqi, reportedly in relation to their Falun Gong activity.
On August 13, 2019, the Maonan District People's Court in Maoming sentenced Lin to four years and six months in prison and fined her 8,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On December 2, 2019, Lin's appeal was denied.
Lin's sentence should have ended in February 2023.
