Liu Jishui was imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
On August 30, 2017, officers from the Liuhe District Branch of Nanjing Public Security Bureau, Jiangsu province, arrested Liu reportedly in relation to his preaching, organizing of worship gatherings, and distributing of church-related materials.
On an unspecified date, the Donghai People’s Court sentenced Liu to five years and six months in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
Liu was sent to Hongzehu Prison, Jiangsu, to serve his sentence.
Liu's sentence should have ended in February 2023.
