Liu Zhi is imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On March 24, 2018, officers from the Qingdao City Public Security Bureau arrested Liu reportedly in relation to her religious belief, church leadership role, and organizing of worship meetings.
On September 30, 2019, the Shibei District People’s Court of Qingdao city sentenced Liu to seven years and six months in prison and fined her 20,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
