On an unknown date believed to be in 2017, security officials in Barin (Baren) town, Peyziwat (Jiashi) county, Kashgar prefecture, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), detained Abdurehim, accusing him of religious “extremism,” after he did not attend a mourning ceremony for his late grandmother-in-law.
