Nizomiddin Nasriddinov is imprisoned for his religious activity and association.
In July 2023, Tajik authorities detained Nasriddinov after he was extradited from Belarus. Nasriddinov, who had been living in Germany as a refugee, was placed on a global wanted list in 2017 by the Tajik government for his online engagement with the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT), an Islamic political party that advocated for freedom of religion or belief. Authorities charged him with "public calls to violent change of the constitutional order of Tajikistan" (Art. 307 TCC).
In October 2023, the Ismoili Somoni district court sentenced Shamsiddin to 8 years, 6 months' imprisonment.
