Odilkhoja Dadakhojaev was imprisoned in relation to his religious belief and activity.

In 2000, the Margilon City Court sentenced Dadakhojaev to six years in prison for "attempts to overthrow the constitutional order” (Art. 159 UCC) and an unspecified subsection of Article 244 UCC reportedly in connection to his religious beliefs.

In 2008, Dadakhojaev was sentenced to another 16 years on unspecified charges.

In September 2022, it was reported that Dadakhojaev had been released.
