Rah Lan Rah is imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
In December 2020, authorities arrested Rah following a crackdown on the First Christian Church, an independent house church. Authorities accused him of being in contact with an American-based pastor, whom they allege use his religion to support separatist activities in Vietnam.
In August 2021, the People's Court of Gia Lai Province sentenced Rah to six years in prison and three years' probation for "undermining national unity policy" (Art. 87/1999 VCC).
