Extra Bio Info:

Reena was subjected to forced renunciation of faith.

In March 2019, armed men reportedly kidnapped 14-year-old Reena and her 15-year-old sister, Raveena, from their home in Gotki district, Sindh province. In rapid succession, the sisters were converted to Islam, renamed, and then married to the men accused of abducting them. The seminary that facilitated Reena's conversion and marriage recorded her as 18 years old and as having converted to Islam of her own free will, contrary to her family's claim that she was underage and acted under coercion. Lawyers affiliated with the seminary filed a court petition to formally "protect" Reena from her Hindu family.

In April 2019, the Islamabad High Court ruled that Reena's conversion was not forced and permitted her to remain with her husband, despite her family's allegations that she was a minor and had been coerced.
