On January 16, 2015, officers from the Qingyang County Public Security Bureau in Chizhou city detained Shi reportedly in relation to her religious belief and religious leadership role.
On June 10, 2015, Shi was released on bail due to medical reasons, including hypertension and dizziness.
On July 5, 2016, Shi was arrested again.
