Tang Jianqun is imprisoned for her religious activity.
On May 22, 2017, authorities from Jieyang municipality, Guangdong province, arrested Tang alongside four other Falun Gong practitioners. Tang was reportedly accused of posting Falun Gong-related information on social media.
In May 2019, the Rongcheng People’s Court sentenced Wu to eight years in prison for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
On July 25, 2019, the Jieyang Intermediate People’s Court denied Tang's appeal.
