Teng Chengqin was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.

On August 29, 2016, Bengbu police officers detained Teng reportedly in relation to her hosting of church members and participating in the filming church videos.

In July 2018, the Yuhui District People’s Court in Bengbu sentenced Teng to four years in prison and fined her 8,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).

Zhao's sentence should have ended in August 2020.
