A Tik was imprisoned for his religious belief and activity.
In October 2015, authorities arrested Tik for participating in a religious group not approved by the government. Authorities accused Tik and other Ha Mon Catholics of separatist activities. He was subsequently charged with "undermining national unity policy" (Art. 87/1999 VCC).
In April 2016, the People’s Court of Gia Lai Province sentenced Tik to eight years in prison and three to five years' probation.
Tik's sentence should have ended in October 2023.
