Valentin Zhuravlov was disappeared for his religious leadership role.

On June 18, 2022, Russian armed forces detained Zhuravlev, a Protestant pastor, in Russian-occupied Melitopol, Ukraine. Zhuravlev was reportedly in the middle of a joint interdenominational religious service taking place in the city’s main square when he was taken away. 

In October 2022, it was reported that Zhuravlov had been released.
