Victim NP-0136 is imprisoned for his religious activity. 

In 2014, Ministry of State Security officials detained NP-0136 after he was reported for possessing a Christian pamphlet. Authorities confined him at Musan County MSS Detention Center, where detainees are starved and subjected to inhumane sanitary conditions, and where Christians are beaten for praying and tortured for their religious beliefs. North Korean officials also arrested his immediate family members, including children.

Authorities sentenced him to indefinite imprisonment in a political prison camp.
