Victim NP-0213 is detained for his religious activity. 

In 1999, North Korean authorities detained NP-0213 after he was refouled from China, where he had attended a Christian church. When authorities discovered he had smuggled in a New Testament, they verbally abused him and subjected him to prolonged restraint by tying his arms and legs to a bed. After a month of hunger strike, authorities force-fed him, causing regurgitation. During interrogation, authorities kicked NP-0123 and struck him with a wooden stool and tree branches until he could not walk. Authorities transferred him to Onsong County MSS Detention Center.
