Victim NP-0245 is detained for his religious activity. 

In 1998, Ministry of State Security officials arrested NP-0245 for distributing Bibles. Authorities confined him at Ryanggang Provincial MSS Holding Center, where detainees are strip-searched, sexually humiliated, and denied food and medical care. Authorities transferred him to a re-education camp. 

During detention, authorities physically assaulted him and forced his wife to divorce him due to his "crime."
