On September 4, 2020, authorities in Laiyang detained Wang after catching her distributing Falun Gong leaflets. Police seized other Falun Gong materials on Wang as well as in her home.
On March 26, 2021, the Intermediate People’s Court of Yantai city, Shandong, sentenced Wang to nine years in jail and fined her 20,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
