Xu Xiaoying was imprisoned for her religious activity.
On November 9, 2018, authorities from Daoli district, Harbin municipality, Heilongjiang province, detained five Falun Gong practitioners, including Xu, reportedly in relation to their Falun Gong activity.
On August 22, 2019, the Daoli People's Court sentenced Xu to four years in prison and fined her 10,000 yuan.
Xu was believed to have served her sentence in Harbin City Women’s Prison.
Xu's sentence should have ended in November 2022.
