Zhang Zhiqin was imprisoned for her religious belief and activity.
On September 21, 2016, officers from the Shucheng County Public Security Bureau detained Zhang reportedly in relation to her religious belief and religious leadership role.
On May 8, 2018, the Shucheng County People’s Court sentenced Zhang to six years in prison and fined her 20,000 yuan for "organizing or using a cult to undermine implementation of the law" (Art. 300 CCL).
Zhang's sentence should have ended in September 2022.
