Policy Analyst

Sema Hasan is a Policy Analyst at the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. She focuses on South Asia, primarily Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. Prior to USCIRF, Sema worked as a Researcher and Project Lead with the Library of Congress’ Federal Research Division where her research focused on foreign affairs, economics, law and criminal justice. Prior to that, she served in various policy and research roles focusing on human rights and South Asian politics.

Sema holds an M.A. in International Affairs and Economics from Johns Hopkins’ School of Advanced International Studies, where she was a Foreign Language and Areas Studies Fellow. She received her B.A. in Mathematics and International Affairs from Lewis & Clark College.
